This last week was full of ups and downs...
For the ups:
*Had the great great greaat pleasure of working with Tonspi at his studio. Tonspi is not only one of the photographers I admire the most, but is also crazy as hell... Just being around him makes me take better pictures (ok, enough ass kissing...)

[link]*What I learned during this session:
- Studio light rules, period.
- Good make up = bling bling, and bling bling = the "wow" factor
- RAW RAW AND RAW (format) from now on
- Great modelling is as close as great acting as possible (at least on the physical side).
- A Nikon D2X is a good excuse for not going to the gym to lift weights, specially when a 2kg lens is attached to it. That thing killed my arms after 2 hours of holding it.
*What I didn't like:
- I always saw photography as a medium of escape.
That means that since I don't drink (a lot) or do (too many) drugs, photography was my only way to create my own little worlds.
It seems to me (and correct me if I'm wrong) that most "glamour/fashion" photography today is empty...By that I mean that there's no story behind the images, they're just cold, shiny things, and they all look the same (a woman, good light, lot's of make up - check my pictures

).
I don't mean to disrespect anyone, it's just an observation (and again, maybe I'm missing something, as usual), but I feel that there's a difference between taking 300 shots of a model moving around trying her best to look cool, and taking 5 (semi or full) pre-thought and conceived shots of the same model without the bling bling.
The difference is not in the number of shots.
Yes, of course there's a difference of styles, there's the "lack of time" factor and there are the comercial obligations to consider, etc etc...
Anyway, I'm rambling and this whole thing is not really important (are you even still reading ?

).
The fact is that:
studio light+great model+makeup+a bit of imagination = winning formula
Emphasis on "a bit of imagination" though,
I guess that's what makes a truly beautiful picture.
